Step one
Rank Mike Prax #1
Alaska uses ranked-choice voting in the general election. You are not picking one name — you are putting the candidates in the order you like them. It is simpler than it sounds:
- Fill in the oval for your first choice. That is the only mark that has to be there.
- You may rank a second and third choice if you want to. You are never required to.
- Ranking someone second cannot hurt your first choice. Your second choice is only counted if your first choice is eliminated.
Three candidates are on the District 33 ballot this November. Rank Mike Prax first, and the rest is up to you.

Dates that matter
- Oct. 4Voter registration deadline. Your registration or update must be postmarked or received 30 days before Election Day.
- Oct. 19Early voting and in-person absentee voting begin at designated locations, 15 days before Election Day.
- Oct. 24Last day the Division of Elections can receive an application for an absentee by-mail ballot.
- Nov. 25:00 p.m. — deadline to apply for an absentee ballot by electronic transmission (online or fax).
- Nov. 3Election Day. Polls open 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Mailed ballots must be postmarked on or before today; hand-delivered ballots must arrive by 8:00 p.m.

Three ways to cast a ballot
Vote early, in person
Early and in-person absentee voting opens October 19 at designated locations around the Fairbanks North Star Borough. No excuse needed.
Vote absentee by mail
Request a ballot from the Division of Elections — the by-mail application must be received by October 24. Do not wait on the mail; apply early.
